One of the original Draughtsmen, “Dale” as he was known was instrumental in the early development of the club and remained involved until his passing in 2021
An accomplished brewer, Dale specialized in lagers but made most every beer style over the years. In addition to beer, he also made wine, mead and sake, even winning the “Sake Maker of the Year” title from the American Homebrewers Association.
Mostly though, Dale is remembered for his generosity to the club. For many years, Dale and his wife Debbie opened “El Encanto”, their home in Loxahatchee to the club for our annual “Hurricane Blowoff” competition as well as Cajun Fests, club brew days and many, many parties for any number of reasons often playing guitar or bass with his band, the “Branch Floridians” as the entertainment.
Troy was an early club member, joining the Draughtsmen in 1995.
While Troy was an occasional brewer, he and his wife Ingrid were always involved in many club activities and events throughout the years until his passing in 2023. They often opened their home in Wellington to the club for club meetings, brew days and sometimes just to have a party. Troy was an experienced beer judge always making sure he got to judge the pilsner category at each year’s “Hurricane Blowoff” competition..
Andy joined the Draughtsmen in 1994 and was a continuous member until shortly before his passing in 2024. Always a leader and organizer, Andy held every club office at least once and served as either competition coordinator or head judge for the “Hurricane Blowoff several times. He and his wife Jan also hosted many brewing and mead making days for the club at their home in Royal Palm Beach.
Andy was a prolific brewer and mead maker winning over 50 medals total and at least one medal from every Florida club sponsored competition. In addition, he took home the “Best of Show” award on __ occasions. While Belgian beer styles were his favorites to brew, he could and did make fine examples of many, many other beer styles.
In 2006, Andy became a Nationally Certified BJCP beer judge and judged in competitions throughout the state for many years. He was also involved in teaching and preparing others to get certified.
